I’ve had a couple of enquiries recently that have asked why my pricing is higher for 90 minute and 2hr bookings than the combined fee for shorter durations.
(IE I charge more for 90 minutes than for a half hour plus a one hour.)
The reason for this is that I find longer bookings physically and emotionally draining. Keeping the price higher does two things:
1. I get less of these long bookings as clients will realise there is better value for money in booking an hour, so I get more shorter bookings which don’t reduce my energy so much.
2. When I do get a longer booking, the higher price means I can then take a few hours out afterwards to regain my energy rather than having to rush into another booking.
This is also the reason I don’t offer long bookings (dinner dates, overnights, etc.) I am an introvert, which means that when I spend time with people, my energy drains, and when I’m alone my energy refills. For extroverts it’s the other way around.
(I am also a very light sleeper and after years spent sleeping alone, I literally cannot sleep with anyone else in my bed, which means I wouldn’t be able to work the day after an overnight.)
When I’m in a booking, you will get 100% of my emotional energy because I offer a very intimate and authentic service. So yes that is tiring for me, because I choose to be my own true self during bookings rather than putting on a fake persona.
So please don’t feel offended if I turn down your offer of an overnight or a dinner date – I recently turned down an evening with MY OWN SISTER because I felt drained from being with people all day!
